Your model stays yours

Split3D cuts a model you already own. It does not make the model, it divides it, and it adds the connectors on the cut. So the pieces are yours, the way the original was yours, and we claim nothing over either. We never even see the file: the whole thing runs on your machine.

What this page governs is narrower: what the plan you are on lets you do with the pieces that come out of the tool, and the two pieces of our own work that travel with them, the connector geometry and the mark on free files.

Every plan, free included

You may:

• print the pieces, as many times as you like, on any printer;
• keep them, assemble them, paint them, give them away;
• make them for yourself, for friends and for family.

You still need the right to use the original model. A licence that forbids you to print or to sell a model forbids it after the cut too: splitting something does not widen the rights you had over it.

Free and Starter

Personal use. You may not sell the printed parts, and you may not sell or give away the exported files.

Files exported on these plans carry a small Split3D engraving, and you choose where it goes before exporting: on a cut face it disappears once the pieces are together. Leave it where you put it.

Pro

Commercial use of the printed parts, while the subscription is live. Sell them at a market, on a shop, to a client, print them to order. No engraving on the files.

The permission covers what you cut while subscribed, and what you cut while subscribed stays covered afterwards. What you cut after the subscription ends falls back to personal use.

What no plan allows

No plan lets you sell or publish a model you did not have the right to sell or publish in the first place. That is a matter between you and whoever made it, and cutting it here changes nothing about it.

The connectors

The pegs, sockets and magnet pockets the tool builds on your cut faces are ours. Printing them inside your pieces is exactly what they are for, under the plan you are on. Extracting them to reuse as a library of parts, or to build a competing tool, is not.
